Taking A Leap On Leap Day

On Saturday February 29th, 2020 the world will be experiencing the phenomenon known as a leap year. What exactly is a leap year? A leap year is a year, occurring once every four years, that has 366 days including February 29 as an intercalary day.

As it works out, on our calendars we see it as an extra 24 hours to enjoy the year, which technically we aren’t actually gaining a day, it just makes sense for how our yearly schedules have been built to include an extra day during our yearly orbit around the sun.

Though as interesting as the science and facts behind this phenomenon is, we’d like to take a moment to sit down with you and break down the more philosophical side of things when it comes to this leap year and how you would use your “extra” 24 hours on this planet.

Let’s dive into a topic relevant for today, time. More specifically, it’s the one thing people can never seem to get enough of. I’m sure you’ve heard and probably uttered out the phrases, “if only I had more time on my hand!” or “Ain’t no body got time for that A lot of the time people go around looking for more time, and funny enough every four years you get just that.

We’d like to think of it as a funny way the universe likes to answer our pleas for a little help. Though, if you could take all the times in the last four years and think about every time you had asked for a few more minutes- what would those extra moments sum up to? Take a moment for yourself and really think about it.

Would you have a few more minutes to get ready in the morning to actually catch that missed train? Or would you’d have enough time to make a big impression on someone during an interview? Maybe you’d like an extra day to work on your goals / personal projects. Or maybe you’d have just one more day with those special people in your life?

However your extra few hours would add up, really think about the impact it would have on you today if you could actually use all of this extra time for good. Ask yourself how you can use your extra day today to fulfill some of those things you never had the time for.

Would you use this extra time to go and explore places you’ve never had time to go?

Maybe you and your special person could spare sometime and get away from it all.

You could take this extra time to work on your mental health, or just taking a well needed break.

Maybe you’d take that risk today and ask someone an important question, maybe you’d make an impression with a gesture?

Sure on the grand scheme of things, this extra day, doesn’t exempt us from the rest of our regularly scheduled days. It also doesn’t really give us another 24 hours to spare, but if you could imagine a world where you could have those few extra moments, and when you find yourself actually having them…what would you do?
