Setting Your Day With Intention.
The concept of ‘mindfulness’ has exploded on popular media within the past few years, as the conversation surrounding mental health gains traction in society. Mindfulness is all about living a life that drips with intention. As Google defines it: a mental state achieved by focusing one’s awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations.
It is much more than an Instagrammable concept.
Mindfulness is a step that we take to function with intention to manifest good, rather than wandering aimlessly, hoping to stumble upon something good along the way. While we do not know what will happen in a year, a month, a day, or even an hour, we can set our minds to being okay with what is to come. Your reality will not change, but the way you experience reality will.
Questions to keep “checking in” with yourself:
What are you feeling in this moment? Anxiety? Disappointment? Fear? Profound joy? Identify how you feel and how your body feels.
Why are you feeling these things? Identify the thoughts. Is it a culmination of something small, yet constant? Or is it the result of something more significant and sudden?
Now that you’ve recognized how you’re feeling and why you feel them, do you think these thoughts have real authority? Our thoughts about ourselves are not automatically real because we think them.
Taking a few moments in your day to journal these thoughts sporadically or to repeat these questions while sitting on your balcony enjoying a bottle of wine you Gestured yourself can help you become a more intentional person.
You may start to notice patterns and triggers that you did not realize before. We are not claiming that this is the secret to immediate life improvement. But, this can be a seed to a change that you want to implement.
With intention comes great change.
