National Talk Like Yoda Day 👽
It’s National Talk Like Yoda Day! Everybody’s favorite pear-green Jedi Master made his first debut in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back when it aired May 21,1980. Yoda is best known for the immense wisdom and power concealed within his slight 66 centimeter frame. He is a 900-year-old master of lightsaber combat so renowned that he even has a giant worm named after him for their similar appearance, “Yoda Purpurata.” National Talk Like Yoda Day honors this gravelly-voiced movie icon.
National Talk Like Yoda Day honors the release of episode five where Yoda was first introduced as an eccentric recluse with a rather considerable expertise in the Force. Yoda’s syntax differs from the typical subject+verb+direct object, instead speaking in a pattern of object+subject+verb, which is only common in 0.3% of languages. For example, “this is my home,” would be, “my home this is.” To perfect Yoda’s voice, create a gravelly timbre at the bottom of your throat, similar to a gurgling sound. Then practice rearranging common phrases before moving onto his famous quotes, this way you can talk like Yoda anytime you want. Don’t forget the fluctuations in his tone!
Some of Yoda’s most famous sayings are:
“Do or do not. There is no Try.”
“You must unlearn what you have learned.”
“Named must be your fear before banish it you can.”
“The greatest teacher, failure is.”
Yoda likes Gesture, too. Here’s what Yoda had to say about it:
“Truly awesome Gesture is. Gifts on-demand, I love sending!”
Whether you are a die hard Star Wars fan or not - Send a Gesture, you must.
