Is it Really Love? Here’s How to Tell!

With Valentine’s Day only a month away and with COVID still kicking everyone’s butt it seems more important than ever to bring up the age old idea of love.

We at Gesture understand that everyone needs something to cling onto in order to get through these difficult times and let’s be real; the tried and true savior has always been love. Whether it’s the love received from a family member, a friend, a significant other, or even ourselves, love will always prevail.

Love comes in all shapes and sizes. It can be expressed by sending someone their favorite flowers, wishing others well, or sending a quick text on their birthday.

However, the most important factor of deducing the complicated problem called love is consistency. Do they send you a birthday notification every year, are they willing to reach out and check in from time to time, and will they listen to your problems? Consistency is the foundation for building trust within any relationship and without a consistent effort to connect, there is very little room for a relationship to grow into something worth loving.

It doesn’t take a grand gesture to show someone that you care. All it takes is a consistent effort to be there when they need you. Let us embrace our compassionate nature and spread more love in this world!

Love is a two way street and it takes work to build a true relationship with someone. Love is hard. You will fight with your significant other, your friend, and your parents, but that is okay. Nobody is perfect. But if love is truly there you’ll find yourself consistently coming back to them, trying to grow and build off of what you’ve already established.

So next time you get into an argument, wait to see the other person's response. Do they show you they care afterwards through apologizing? Or maybe you were the one in the wrong? Either way, be consistent, be kind, and show compassion.

We hope you gained a little insight from this and use this as a sign to be more conscious in your relationships because everyone deserves to be loved, including you. So get out there and make meaningful relationships that you’re proud to be a part of and build something wonderful together.
